Neutral eye shadow looks have suddenly become more exciting!
Yes, I’m talking about the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette – I’m sure most of you have heard about this one. I found out about it from YouTube and just had to get my hands on it.
I love neutral eye looks – perfect for any time of day or occasion. You just can’t go wrong, and the range of shades that this palette offers is just incredible.
Packaging: A 1.3g tin palette that comes in a cardboard packaging. The palette itself opens upright – on the top half you have a mirror and the bottom half has 12 powder eye shadows and a double sided eye make-up brush.
Texture: The shades are nearly all highly pigmented and consist of mostly shimmery shades, however there are also some satin and matte shades.
Brush: The brush in this palette is the best quality type of brush I have come across in palettes. In fact I never usually use these brushes however this one isn’t too bad. One end is a medium sized blender brush and the other is a shorter, more precise applicator brush.
Left to Right:
Foxy: A pale custard matte shadow that’s silky in texture.
Half Baked: A shimmery warm copper colour.
Booty Call: A shimmery pearl shade that’s also extremely silky.
Chopper: A beautiful warm toned chestnut colour.
Tease: A toned down pale taupe shade that’s matte.
Snake Bite: A highly pigmented, medium brown with golden shimmers.
Suspect: Highly pigmented, neutral brown with silver shimmers.
Pistol: A shimmery deep grey tone shadow.
Verve: Highly pigmented, neutral lilac-grey tone shadow.
YDK: Super shimmery light tan colour.
Busted: An intense metallic purple shade.
Blackout: A deep intense matte black shade.
Cost: Urban Decay is a high end brand so it is on the pricier end. I got this from Amazon UK for about €45.00 – not the cheapest of palettes however you are getting 12 shades with this one. The shades are also highly pigmented so a little goes a long way.
Verdict: The shades are beautiful colours and allow you to create a wide range of looks and add some excitement to a typical neutral look. However, most of the shades are quite shimmery so if that’s not your thing I wouldn’t get this. For the price, I would have expected some nicer packaging however that is not really a major concern for me when it comes to eye shadow palettes.
Highly pigmented shades that can result in some fall out, however overall I’m very pleased with this. A good basic if you’re looking for a wide range of neutral shades.
