Clearing up your Face…with Tomatoes!

Good skin care is essential to have if you want your make up to look its very best.

I’ve always had problem skin growing up so I always stuck to the plain products that my dermatologist recommended for me – only now, in my late 20’s has my skin finally settled. Due to this, I recently started experimenting again with different skin care products and came across this great Clearing Face Mask for Combination Skin by Yes to Tomatoes.

Packaging: A 50ml tub that comes securely packaged in a cardboard box. Really like the packaging design on this – it’s friendly and informative in an interesting way.

Good StuffI was drawn to this product mostly because it is a 95% natural product and does not contain any Parabens, Petroleum and SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) which is nasty stuff that’s better avoided if possible.

Apart from this, it also contains Tomato (a natural source of antioxidants) and Aloe (soothes and moisturises) which both help to balance combination skin.

TextureA thick and creamy face mask that only needs to be applied with a thin layer to the skin. A little goes a long way and it spreads over the face evenly and quickly.

ScentA standard cream smell – it reminds me a lot of Nivea body cream. A nice subtle scent that’s pleasant and not overpowering.

Application: After cleaning your skin, apply a thin layer of the mask all over your face, avoiding the eye area and mouth. It recommends leaving it on for 5 minutes until it dries completely and then wiping it off gently with a damp face cloth and finishing off with a splash of cold water. How often you do this is entirely up to you, but about 1-2 times a week should be sufficient.

When I applied it to my skin, after a few seconds I felt a slight burning sensation particularly around the nose as it is a bit dry there at the moment. This, however was very mild and only lasted a few seconds. It dried quite quickly feeling a bit like a clay mask would. There was also a slight tightness to the skin once dry, but not that much.

Cost: I got this off BeautyBay.com for €14.20 (prices include shipping). For the size of the tub, I did think it was a bit expensive, however once I tried it out and realised how little product I actually needed to use, I’d say that the cost for this is reasonable.

VerdictI really like this mask and immediately noticed a difference when I first applied it. As mentioned before, it’s easy to apply and only a little product is needed. It also dries quickly, tightening the skin, whilst still allowing me to move my face unlike some masks!

It’s also quite easy to wash off – and when I did do that, my skin looked so radiant and healthy! It looked as though I had gone for a jog! My face instantly looked brighter and awake – fantastic! It also very nice and smooth and soft to the touch.

What’s also great is that this did not cause any irritations, possibly because it is a nearly all natural product which is highly recommended to use if you have sensitive skin.

Great product, will definitely keep using this and also try out other products in their skin care range.
