So, a few weeks go I was browsing Facebook and came across a make-up tutorial by YouTuber Chloe Morello (she’s fantastic – check her out!) She posted a photo of all the products she used for this tutorial and when I saw it, my heart neatly stopped!
I saw what was probably one of the most beautiful eye shadow palettes I have ever seen! I HAD to find out what it was – and then – had to get it! Turns out it was the Stila, “Eyes are the Window” shadow palette in ‘Soul’. Just beautiful!
Got it a couple of weeks ago, and here it is…
Packaging: The Soul Palette comes in a navy blue cardboard box and the actual palette itself is a beautiful gold coloured box that’s 14.5g in weight. It’s sturdy, sleek and also quite slim so it has a nice feel to it. It also opens up to reveal a large mirror and has a thin plastic film covering the shades with a quote printed on it.
Gorgeous packaging that’s premium looking which makes it perfect for a gift (or just for yourself of course!)
In the box itself, you also get a leaflet giving you three different eye shadow looks to try out with some of the colours found in the palette itself, which is fantastic! They’re easy to replicate and are all good for different occassions.
Texture: A combination of matte and shimmery shades that can be applied both wet or dry. All are quite neutral in colour but they are relatively pigmented so there’s no need to use a lot of product on your brush.
The only thing I don’t like very much about this is that they can be quite powdery and a lot of fall out is created from taking product on your brush, even if you do it gently.
All the ‘Window to the Eyes’ shadow palettes contain 12 beautiful shades – the names of which can be found at the back of the packaging itself.
Shades: Left to Right:
First Row – Top to Bottom:
Light: A soft, matte pale cream colour.
Kitten: A beautiful shimmery champagne colour that’s perfect for a base.
Thought: A lightly shimmered toned down purple colour.
Vitality: A shimmery bronze colour – perfect for highlighting.
Second Row – Top to Bottom
Individual: A matte terracotta colour – great for a neutral eye.
Affection: A mid toned bronzed-terracotta colour.
Heart: A mid toned, matte lilac colour.
Substance: A subtle shimmery grey.
Third Row – Top to Bottom
Being: A beautiful deep brown colour – great for defining the crease.
Character: A highly pigmented and shimmery dark brown with red glitters.
Peace: A matte mid toned purple with a warm hint of bronze.
Essence: A highly pigmented black colour – great for enhancing a smokey eye or lining the eye.
Cost: I got this from BeautyBay for €36.30, including shipping. This is definitely a high end product, and in my opinion, worth getting if you really love make up. However, being it is a Stila product and that the packaging is so beautiful, it’s no wonder it costs that much.
The shades are beautiful and of a good quality but if this is more than you’d want to spend then there are other palettes that offer similar shades for much less – read here.
Verdict: This really is a beautiful palette. The packaging is very luxurious and the shades are beautiful and are very versatile as they are all relatively neutral. As I mentioned before, the amount of fall out that comes abut from using the shades does bother me a bit, however they have good pigmentation so that compensates for it. Gorgeous palette for any make up collections.
Did you know?: The ‘Eyes are the Window’ shadow palettes form part of the products launched by Stila to commemorate their 20 year anniversary. Apart from Soul, there are also the Spirit, Mind and Body shadow palettes.
