If you don’t already know, I am obsessed with a flawless base. I do like dewy looks, however only on skin that’s close to perfect! As mine is not quite near perfect, I am all about full coverage and a matte finish.
In my quest to find the best base products, I thought I’d give the E.l.f High Definition Powder a go. I have tried a few high end powders in the past and was left disappointed so I thought I’d give this a go to see what the outcome might be.
Packaging: An 8g pot of finely-ground white powder that comes in a matte black container. A small powder puff is also included, but I must have gotten rid of it as I much prefer using my large powder brush from Sigma.
Application: This powder is extremely fine and very light, which gets a bit too messy for my liking! You need to be careful when applying it as it can get all over the place quite easily A little goes a long way with this powder as it’s super absorbent and blends in easily.
Cost: Like with all E.l.f products, this was very affordable at just £6.95/€9.30. Pretty good especially for the amount of product you get.
Verdict: I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with this. It is very effective and makes the skin feel extremely soft and smooth, however it didn’t make my skin feel as good as other powders have (both high end an drug store).
It tends to leave a bit of a ‘dusty look’ on the face when seen closely and immediately highlights any dry areas on the skin and makes it look flaky and dry. Therefore, I would definitely not recommend this if you have dry skin! That being said, this will be highly effective for people with very oily skin, however I have still come across better powders.
Even though this is not really one of my favourites, it’s still one I’ll keep using, however I won’t be repurchasing it.
Did you know? This powder is also available in other colours – yellow and flesh colour with shimmer.
