A couple of months ago, I was browsing on eyeslipsface.co.uk to see what new stuff I could try out with one of their numerous code offers. I had previously tried out their clear primer and loved it, however I was now set on trying out the others in their range. I had used purple and green concealers and found them quite effective, but would it be the same for a primer?
So, I decided to get the whole set and give them a go. These are the Mineral Infused Face Primers that they currently have available: Clear, Radiant Glow, Green and Brightening Lavender. These claim to combat against excess oil and dryness, as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to create a flawless make up base.
Packaging: Each primer comes in a 14g see-through pump bottle with a lid. Personally, I think the packaging looks quite good for an inexpensive brand. The only thing that bothers me though is the lid it comes in. I find it quite flimsy as it falls off easily, which tends to irritate me a bit.
Range: The Mineral Face Primer range consists of the following:
- Clear: This is just a thick clear gel that covers the face without adding any colour.
- Radiant Glow: This has a skin colour tint as well as a bit of a sparkle. I did get a bit of a shock at how sparkly it can appear on the face, however this is concealed once foundation is applied and gives it a subtle shimmer. Great for brightening the skin.
- Green: Don’t get scared of this one – it’s very sheer and doesn’t make the face look green at all once applied. This is good for counteracting any redness or blotchy skin.
- Brightening Lavender: This too blends in well in the skin without leaving a purple tint. This is good for uneven and dull skin tones
Consistency: All these are pretty thick and gel like, but blend in easily onto the skin. If you apply too much (like when I was swatching them), they may make your hands feel a bit oily, however all that’s needed for the face is 1 pump, and this is enough to make the skin feel nice and smooth and fills up pores nicely.
Application: Like with all primers, these are to be applied evenly on the skin after cleansing and moisturising. Once it settles in, then go ahead with your base make up.
Cost: As with all E.l.f products these are rather inexpensive, each selling for £6.95/€9.40. A little goes a long way so these last for ages!
Verdict: I quite like these however my favourite has to be the clear one. I personally didn’t see the coloured ones giving any extra benefit to the skin apart from the same coverage as the clear one. The Radiant Glow one (skin coloured) did add some shimmer, however most of it was covered with my foundation. However, you may get more of a result from that one if you use a sheer foundation as mine are usually high coverage.
They all fill in pores quite well and make the skin feel good. For the price they are, you really have got nothing to lose. Decent products at a good price – worth a try!
