Travelling: Beauty Packing

Hey Everyone!

When you’ll be reading this I’ll probably be on a plane to Venice, or else just arrived there. I’m so excited! This 5 day holiday came about unexpectedly (my boyfriend and I always book last minute after weeks of complaining that we need a holiday), and now finally it’s arrived.

When packing for a holiday, I always start off by telling myself to to stick with the basics and not take up too much luggage space, however until now, I’ve never quite managed to achieve this. I always end up wanting to take both tried and tested products, as well as products I haven’t yet used or tried out in a while. What is it about being on holiday that makes me suddenly want to experiment?

So, while packing yesterday morning, this is what I came up with. Is this too much for 5 days?

Ok, it may look like a lot, but it’s not really! When choosing make up when on holiday, you do realise that you end up using much more than you would on a regular day when at home. I don’t know about you, but I hardly ever go out to eat or drink every single day during the after work.

So, you need day looks, evening looks, and most importantly, make up that will stay on all day when you’re runnning about and not getting much time to top up!

Here’s the first half of what I’ve chosen:

Foundation: I opted for the MAC Face & Body Foundation in C3. It’s not one I use on a daily basis, but I like using this when on holiday as it really stays on perfectly all day.

Concealer: As the foundation I’m taking is quite light in texture (although very buildable), I’ll be taking my E.l.f Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter in Glow/Fair (review coming out this Friday).

Powder: I love my powder and will definitely need these to keep my make up on as I’ll be out most of the day. I’ve chosen MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Light for setting my under eye concealer and MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Medium Plus for the rest of my face. These powders are just amazing as they leave such a beautiful, soft, silky finish to the skin.

Blusher: Obviously I could not decide which blusher to take so to make things easier, I just chose my Zoeva & the Sun Power Blush PaletteI like this as it has a mix of pink, peach and neutral blush shades as well as shades that can be used for contouring.

Eyebrows: For me, an eyebrow pencil is always the best option for when I’m in a rush, so I’ve packed my Lord & Berry brow pencil in Blonde. I really like this as it’s also got a brow brush on the other end and gives a nice, natural finish to my brows.

Lipsticks: This was a tricky one as I love my lipsticks! I ended up taking 4 in completely different shades: MAC Angel (soft pink), MAC Half n’Half (medium brown), MAC Diva (deep, dark red) and Me Now Long Lasting Lip Gloss in #09 (a deep, orange based red). That covers both day and evening looks!

Eye Shadow: A palette is always the easiest thing when travelling I find, so I packed my Stila ‘Eyes are the Window’ Eye Shadow Palette in ‘Soul’. This is such a beautiful palette but I haven’t been using it much lately (I go through phases of using one thing for a while and then another and so on) so by just taking this with me, I can re use this amazing palette properly once again.

Mascara: Another one I haven’t used in a while that’s both cheap, but fantastic is the Jordana, Best Lash Extreme mascara. This gives super thick and long black lashes – love it! The only downfall is that tons of product seems to come off when removing it for some reason.

Eye Brows: I know I already packed a brow pencil, but I really wanted to bring along my Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Blonde. I find that using gel for brows takes a bit of practice, and as I’ll (hopefully) be a lot more relaxed while on holiday, I can take advantage of this and try it out a bit more.

Eye Liner: Zoeva has some beautiful eye liners (Graphic Eyes+) that are super smooth, creamy and pigmented. I chose the one in Nude Reflection as it’s a pretty sparkly champagne colour that’s great for both day and evening wear. I also packed my MAC Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Black Track as it’s another one of those products I love but never seem to find time to use it on a daily basis as I’m always rushing about, and gel takes a bit of time to get right!

After all this was done, I then realised I forgot a primer! So another product thrown in…

Brushes: Ok, so if all that make up wasn’t enough, it was then time for brushes!

Firstly, I needed a brush cleaner as I am super paranoid about using dirty foundation brushes. I got my E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner as it’s very small so great for travel. I have not tried this out yet so I’ll get back with a review on this soon.

I’ll keep this part short and just list down the names of the brushes:

  • Foundation: Zoeva 104 Buffer Brush
  • Powder (face): Zoeva 106 Powder Brush
  • Powder (under eye): Real Techniques Setting Brush
  • Concealer: Zoeva 142 Concealer Brush
  • Blusher: Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek
  • Eye Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills 20 Brow Brush
  • Eye Shadow: Zoeva 232 Luxe Classic Shader & 229 Eye Finish Brush
  • Eye Liner: Zoeva 315 Fine Liner

So that’s it! What do you take when you’re going on holiday? Any tips to help me pack less? 🙂

Ps – I’ll catch up on all comments and reading blog posts when I’m back over the weekend 🙂

    • Thank you so much 🙂 I’ve subscribed to yours 🙂 I’ll take a good look when I’m back from holiday as the connection is a bit wonky here! Very true but so far happy with what I chose to bring up with me. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
