I’m Back! :)

Hi all!

I really have missed being here 🙂

It’s been about 10 months…can’t believe it!

A lot of changes in my personal life happened this year – some good, some bad. But ultimately now all has fallen into place and makes sense again. I think I just wasn’t in the mind frame or ‘had the time’ to blog whilst going through a lot of changes.

Anyway, now I’m back and can’t wait to start blogging again. There’s so much to update you on – I’m so excited!! I also can’t wait to catch up with everyone and all your latest posts. So sorry I missed so many 😦

Next posts will follow in about a week or so every Tuesday & Thursday to tart off with 🙂

See you all very soon 🙂

Have a great Sunday xxxx

Recent Favourites #1

Every now and again, I get stuck on a couple of products that I just love and stick to them for a while. I guess this is rather common though, which is ironic for beauty lovers who always wants to buy new things. Go figure!

So, here’s what I’ve been using lately:

Recent Favourites: Milani, Mac, YSL, Nars, Jordana & Phito Studios

Recent Favourites: Milani, Mac, YSL, Nars, Jordana & Phito Studios

For my base, I’ve really been loving the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless foundation in Medium One, Punjab. Till now this is definitely one of my all time favourites. Super lightweight, yet such good coverage without needing much product. If you love a flawless finish, this one’s for you.

My outbreaks have finally almost all gone, however I’m still turning to MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer in NC30. It’s thick, yet not cakey and covers imperfections really well. Not recommended for the under eye area though – might be too heavy and crease.

After many years, I’ve once again, gone back on to loose powders. I really use to dislike these, however we’ve been using these a lot throughout the make up course and I have to admit, they really do make all the difference. If applied with a powder puff, you’ll notice a significant increase in make up lasting time! Definitely give it a go to see.

I’ve been using Phito Studio’s Rice Powder in number 6. It adds a bit of colour to my complexion and make up doesn’t budge for hours.

For eyes, I’ve gone back on Jordana’s Best Lash Extreme Volumising Mascara. I like this cause it’s super black, and really lengthens and thickens out the lashes.

I’ve fallen in love again with my Milani blushers. I mean, how could you not? These are beyond beautiful, highly pigmented, long lasting and so affordable!

I like mixing the two shades: Deliciozo Pink on the apples of my cheeks, and Luminoso over the cheek bones, blending everything in together.

With lipsticks, of course there is MAC. Once again I’m loving Blankety, a really cute pink shade (it came across a bit darker in the photo – see here for more swatches).

Any of you tried these? What are your current favourites?

2016: Make up brands I want to try out

I just can’t believe that the year is nearly over, do you?! It feels almost like yesterday that I said the same thing a year ago. Honestly, where does the time go?!

So anyway, lately I got to thinking about what beauty brands I definitely need to try out next year. There have been numerous products I’ve been dying to try, but for the sake of keeping this post at a reasonable length, I’ll just be mentioning the brands here and then do separate posts on a products list later on once it’s been complied!

So, without further adieu; here are brands I must try out next year:

Tom Ford Beauty Hourglass Charlotte Tilbury Napoleon Perdis Makeup Geek

  • Tom Ford: Annie from Annie’s Beauty got me lusting over these! [Thanks Annie! ;)] I’m just impressed at what gorgeous lipstick shades they have? Just incredible! Also, the packaging is just divine!
  • Hourglass: I’ve been seeing their gorgeous highlighter palettes everywhere and they look just so beautiful. The packaging and product itself look so unbelievably beautiful. It was love at first sight.
  • Charlotte Tilbury: I really don’t know where to begin with this brand! The lipsticks, the blushers, that amazing sculpting palette…. Everything is just exquisite. Must.Have!
  • Napoleon Perdis: I have to admit, I don’t know much about this brand but from what I have seen on beauty vlogs, their base products look just lovely an leave skin looking just gorgeous and flawless. Definitely a brand to look into further.
  • Makeup Geek: I can’t believe I haven’t tried this yet either! A lot of the stuff looks just great but it’s the eye shadows that have caught my eye. Such varied and intense coloured shades. Can’t wait to try these out!

Have any of you tried anything from these brands? What would you recommend?

Also, let me know what new brands you want to try for 2016! 🙂

What’s in my Bag? (Evening #2)

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.

I had a colleague’s wedding so it was great opportunity to get all dressed up! Today, I’ll be showing you my bag and what I packed in it for the evening.

Lately, I’ve been doing my very best to keep the number of items to a minimum. It’s been easy to achieve for evening events, however my day bags still need a good clean out!

The Bag – DiorWithout a doubt, my favourite evening handbag ever. I bought this after much debate as a form of ‘retail therapy’ when feeling very broke after buying a home with my boyfriend. Contradictory, I know. However, it will probably be the first and last pricey handbag I will ever buy. Beautiful and just oozing sophistication – a gorgeous piece that’s great for a special event.

Concealer: One of my favourites lately, MAC’s studio finish concealer in NC30. A fantastic consistency with superb long-lasting coverage. Definitely on par with my other favourite from Nars.

Powder: Nars pressed powder in Beach. I just love this! It gives a subtle colour, adding warmth and high coverage whilst keeping make up in place. Cheaper products do a similar job but this mirror it comes with is handy when out and about.

Brush: My skin is a bit dry at the moment so I got a small brush that I usually use for highlighting just to powder the t-zone if needed. The Sigma tapered highlighter F35 brush is perfect for this too. Great quality and lovely, soft bristles.

Eye Pencil:My favourite eye pencil so far, MAC’s ‘Engraved’ black eye pencil. It’s super black and intense and stays on all night with minimal touching up needed.

Lipstick: After my recent clear out of lipsticks, I fell back in love again with Milani’s Sangria. A gorgeous, deep plum colour that’s super sultry and long lasting. The great thing about it is that it isn’t drying on the lips, and fades evenly leaving a nice berry shade.

Lip Balm: I’m always carrying around lip balm lately and Vaseline is always one of my favourites. Extremely hydrating and long-lasting, these always get the job done.

Recent Empties: Repeat Buy or Move On? #4

During the last two months, quite a few products have been used up! A lot of these are also favourites, however let’s go through them all…

Top, left to right:

  • Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blonde: Batiste dry shampoos are definitely one of the best out there and this is no exception. Extremely effective at eliminating oil and leaves a nice blonde tint which is great especially with regrowth. Be sure to brush this properly for no coloured streaks though! Verdict: Repeat Buy.
  • St Moriz Instant Self-Tanning Mousse in Dark: This is pretty good. Quite effective, easy to apply with minimised streaking and reasonably priced. That being said, I have switched to organic and natural self-tanners so for this reason alone I will not be re buying. Verdict: Move On.
  • Laid Bare’s Tantastic Natural Self-Tanner: I love this! It’s super effective, gives a lovely golden colour and made with all natural ingredients. It’s also very well priced. However, it doesn’t smell too great once dried and as it’s a cream, it’s not the easiest to apply. However, as it’s all natural, I’ll definitely keep buying this. Verdict: Repeat Buy.
  • La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel for Oily & Sensitive Skin: I’ve been using this for 15 years so without a doubt, it’s one of my favourites! A very simple product, yet one that agrees well with my skin that’s very sensitive and acne prone. Recommended to me by various GP’s and dermatologists, it’s definitely always on my shelf. Verdict: Repeat Buy.

Bottom, Left to Right:

  • Pharmaceris Emollient Moisturising Day Cream: This was alright, but not my favourite. I don’t experiment much with skin care as it’s so sensitive and generally reacts badly to new products. However I though I’d give this a go was my usual moisturiser as sold out. It did the job but didn’t seem to help my skin much and I did get a few more breakouts than usual. Verdict: Move On.
  • Avon’s Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Foundation in Natural Beige: One of the best foundations I have ever used! High coverage, leaving a beautiful and flawless finish. Being an Avon product, it is also very affordable and also comes in a good range of colours. Love this! Verdict: Repeat Buy.
  • Avon’s Super Dream Mascara: Unfortunately, this was just awful. It dried up really quickly and didn’t really do much to my lashes. It added no body, length or thickness and wasn’t a deep black colour either. Definitely not worth it in my opinion. Verdict: Move On.
  • Rimmel’s Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in Warm Beige: One of my favourite powders of all time! So effective – as good as any high end powder and just so cheap! Love it and will forever keep buying it. Verdict: Repeat Buy.
  • E.l.f’s Mineral Face Primer in Purple: I quite liked this. A very effective primer at a very low cost. Its thick silicone base filled in pores nicely and makes the skin feel nice and smooth. However, the purple colour didn’t really add any extra benefit as it said it would. For this reason only, I will not repurchase, however the translucent one that they have is worth trying out.  Verdict: Move On.
  • Yves Rocher’s Bio Gentle Body Scrub with Organic Aloe VeraOhh I really love this! The exfoliating beads looked so tiny but proved to be very effective and really left my skin feeling soft and smooth. The thick gel it came in foamed up nicely and left a wonderful fresh aloe vera sent. A little product also really goes a long way and lasts quite a while. Verdict: Repeat Buy.

That was quite a long list of products! More storage space cleared out 🙂

Have you tried any of these?

Starting a Professional Make up Course

I finally started a professional make up course!

Yes, this is very exciting news for me (my friends think my excitement is a little…extreme lol) but I have no doubt you beauty lovers will be more understanding! 🙂

It’s been something I’ve been thinking about doing for quite a few years but never seemed to find the right course for me. However now, it’s finally happening and if all goes to plan then I’ll be a certified make up artist by July 2016. So exciting!

Just thought I’d show you the kit they provided us with. Isn’t it a beauty?

This course focuses primarily on beauty make up, so no special effects or theatrical make up here, however that will be something to consider later on…

In here there are 5 beautiful palettes: cream foundations, concealers, powder blushers, neutral eye shadows for every day make up and vibrant ones for avant garde and romantic make up.

Apart from these palettes, we also got a couple of lip and eye pencils, loose powder, lip glosses, mascara, liquid liners latex sponges and a brush cleaner.

The brand, Phito Studios Make up, is a range of make up that’s generally used by professional make up artists and is recommended by INFA beauty schools.

I’ll be reviewing these products as I progress further with the course, and hopefully might be posting some of my work or else make up on myself in the coming months. It’s something I’ve never done but I feel that now might be a good time to start this… what do you think? 🙂

Have any of you ever done a professional make up course or want to do one? Or do you prefer just trying out new products and experimenting with make up on yourself?

I’m back!

Hey everyone,

I can’t believe how fast September and October have gone by! It feels so good to be back! 🙂

They were extremely hectic months, both at work and at home, and now, even though things are still a little bit crazy, I feel that it is a good time to finally get back to blogging and give it the time that it deserves.

Well, updating old photos never happened (hopefully that will be done during Christmas holidays) however I did finally finish my Diploma in Nutrition for which I’m awaiting the final result…fingers crossed!

During the time away I also started a professional make up course which I’m super excited about! It’s been something I’ve been considering for a very long time and now actually becoming a make up artist (be it as a hobby or as a future profession) is now a step closer to becoming a reality! I can’t wait!

Finally, a big thank you to all of you for being so nice and supportive with me taking two months away. That really meant a lot to me 🙂

I’ll say it again… it feels so good to be back and can’t wait to get catching up with everyone 🙂

Have a great week! xxx
