Just stop and take a look at the detail of it 🙂 (yes, i am obsessed with this!)

The bag comes in 3 sections that can be zipped up individually. This is what the first section looks like when you open it. Plenty of storage for additional brushes or makeup. I’m currently using this for storing my cotton buds/pads, facial wipes, brush cleaner, tissues, setting sprays and foundations.

Some palettes can also be stored here if the items you place in the sections are not that bulky.

There’s a great brush for precise contouring as well as a fluffier one, a small setting brush,  for highlighting a fan brush and a fluffier one too. For the full list see here.

This currently retails for €245! Maybe it’s a lot of money at one go but see it this way – you get an amazing storage bag that comes along with it which sells separately for €50, so making each brush cost €6.50 on average. That’s a winner if you ask me 🙂

The Beauty Blender Test

The Beauty Blender. A humble sponge that has been raved about many times over by numerous bloggers and vloggers alike. Naturally, I needed to try this out too. Was it really all it was said to be?

The Beauty Blender

The Beauty Blender

I first started off by trying a knock-off as spending close to €20 on sponge seemed a little bit unjustified to me. It was alright and did the job, however I still preferred my buffing brushes to it. I then finally gave in to the hype and got the original beauty blender just to see if it really performed any better.

When I first received it, my initial reaction was, ‘Wow this sponge is seriously small! Did I just spend €20 on this?!’ Anyway, I know the whole point is to submerse it in water so that it grows in size, so I closed an eye on that and got to testing it.

The Beauty Blender

The Beauty Blender

Yes, the beauty blender really does double in size when soaked with water so not to worry! Its shape makes liquid foundation and concealer application feel like a dream as it easily moulds itself to the contours of your face. I immediately found this a lot better than my knock-off sponge which was bumpier in shape and a lot stiffer.

The beauty blender blends liquid make up flawlessly and really leaves a lovely finish that is very buildable. All in all, a great sponge. However, is it worth it?

The Beauty Blender

The Beauty Blender

I can’t say I am 100% convinced!

Firstly, I really dislike how much product it soaks up. It’s such a waste really.

Secondly, when compared to my buffing brush, I can’t say that I really saw much of a difference in the final result. It definitely does perform a lot better that a stippling brush though – this leaves a much lighter finish, whilst the beauty blender really does give a better coverage. However, I do not think that I will be replacing my buffing brushes with this sponge.

Although, I did find it a lot easier to use when blending concealer in my under eye area. Sure it absorbs a lot of product, but it’s a much smaller area and it’s not as messy as using your fingers. It’s also a lot gentler than using a buffing brush in that delicate area.

Overall, I do like the beauty blender but I don’t feel as passionate about it as so many other people do! I think it’s good to use to soften or further blend in make up once applied and good for the under eye area, however my buffing brushes will still remain my preferred choice.

What’s your take on this? Would love to hear what you have to say! Is it worth the hype?

Care: As with all make up brushes, just having them in your collection isn’t enough. If you want them to last and retain their quality, you really need to care for them properly. It’s also important to clean regularly to avoid spreading bacteria on your face. Check out my previous posts on how to spot clean and deep clean your brushes. It will make all the difference to their lifespan and make up application!

Cost: These 8 beautiful brushes and make up bag sell for €65, which is really only €7.20 per item. Very well priced, especially for the high quality. What do you think?

Verdict: It’s quite obvious that I love these! There really is no going wrong with Zoeva brushes. I use them nearly on a daily basis, clean them regularly and they still look like I’ve just bought them! The only thing that bothers me is that despite deep cleaning, my blush brush is still slightly stained. Any tips on how to remove this? That being said, these come highly recommended!

My Sigma Brushes

I love make-up brushes! Not only do they help make up application to be so much easier, but they can also look so luxurious which makes the whole make-up application process more enjoyable.

About a year ago, I was always hearing about Sigma brushes and just had to get my hands on a few of them.

My collection, although quite small, are very well loved and well used.

Introducing to you, my Sigma Large Powder F20 brush, the Tapered Highlighter F35 brush and the Blending E36 brush.

Sigma Brushes

Sigma Brushes

  • Sigma Large Powder F20 brush: I am in love with this brush! I really like that it’s a big fluffy brush as this makes powder application all over the face so easy to apply. Best of all, it’s super soft and feels great on the skin. Made with synthetic hairs, this brush still looks brand new after over a year of constant use and cleaning. At £23.95, it doesn’t come cheap but it’s well worth it if you’re looking for a large face brush of very good quality.
  • Tapered Highlighter F35 brush: This is just great for applying highlighter, especially at the top of the cheekbones. It’s tapered tip makes it very easy to apply, and the lightness of the synthetic bristles also ensure just the right about of product is applied. It has a very soft and feathery feel to it that also easily enables effortless blending. At the time of purchase, this retailed for about £19.50.
  • Blending E36 brush: This small eye brush is made of natural hairs and enables easy blending of powder eye shadows. I generally prefer using fluffier blending brushes, however this really does a good job of blending in colours and defining the crease. That being said, I am still set on trying out the E40 blending brush as I’ve heard such great things about it! Does anyone have it? This sold for about £11.50 when I got it.

From the picture above you can better see the bristles – all super soft and fluffly. These feel like a dream on your face.

I am just love the packaging of these. The glossy black handles, with silver ferrules and brush name and number. These definitely look and feel luxurious so you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth when you purchase these.

Also, very important is that all these dry very well after they have been washed, even the natural haired E36 blending brush.

While Sigma may not be my number one choice for make up brushes, they still are one of my all-time favourites and are definitely worth the investment if you’re looking into purchasing these.

The E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner

Recently, when preparing to go on holiday I had to try pack light. While I may not have managed to pack the bare minimum when it came to make up, I did manage to find a travel sized make up brush cleaner.

We all know how important it is to regularly sanitize and clean make up brushes, especially those with cream products in them. I just couldn’t bear the thought of using dirty brushes for 5 days so that’s where the E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner came into good use.

The E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner

The E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner

Packaging: A 60ml black bottle that comes with a tightly secured plastic lid.

Scent:  This cleanser smells a lot like Aloe Vera to me which is quite unusual for a brush cleaner. However, it’s a pleasant smell that comes without that strong smell of alcohol that you usually come across with these products.

Application: This type of product is to be used for spot cleaning make up brushes. The process is quite simple: spray 2-3 times directly on the brush, or on thick kitchen paper and gently swipe the brush back or forth until the product has come out.

For a more detailed explanation on how to spot clean your brushes, see here.

The E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner

The E.l.f Daily Brush Cleaner

Cost: The great thing about E.l.f products is that they’re all super affordable and are also of reasonable quality, especially for the price you are paying. At the time of purchase, this cost about £4.00 which is quite cheap for a brush cleaner, however when taking into consideration the size, the one from Zoeva is actually a lot more affordable. That being said, this one is a great size for travelling or when you’re on the go.

Verdict: This is a good one! It effectively and quickly removes make up from brushes, even the most stubborn kind. It smells nice and does the job well. Definitely worth trying out!

Eye Brushes from Zoeva (The Complete Eye Set)

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I just love the Zoeva brand! High quality products at reasonable prices in pretty packaging  – what’s not to like? However, out of all the products they offer, it is undoubtedly their brushes that take the spotlight.

For many years I was on the lookout for beautiful and high quality make up brushes that didn’t come with an exorbitant price tag, and I’m happy to say that I’ve finally found them thanks to Zoeva.

Here’s their complete eye set:

Zoeva Brushes - The Complete Eye Set

Zoeva Brushes – The Complete Eye Set

Packaging: A beautiful collection of 12 professional brushes that come in a cute black makeup bag. The set contains both synthetic and natural bristles, and all are super soft and lovely to use. This particular set contains brushes that all have a smooth, glossy black handle with the brush name and number, followed by a silver ferrule with white, brown or duo coloured bristles.

This set is great as the assortment of eye brushes is quite varied so you’ll definitely find everything you’ll be needing for any eye makeup look, whether straightforward or complex. A full list of all the brushes available can be found at the bottom of this page.

Zoeva Brushes - The Complete Eye Set

Care: With such beautiful brushes, it is really important to care for them properly. As some of these brushes are made of natural bristles, I highly recommend buying extra small mesh brush guards to ensure their shape remains intact after washing.

If brush guards aren’t used, then unfortunately the bristles will start fraying out causing the brush to completely lose it’s shape and not being able to be used properly. It’s also important to use lukewarm water when washing your brushes – not too hot as this will also damage them. Cold water will also not clean them properly.

Cost: This set sells for €65, excluding shipping from the Zoeva website. On average, that’s just €5.40 per brush, and don’t forget you’re also getting a cute bag to store them in. That’s rather good! Especially when taking into consideration the high quality of these brushes.

Zoeva Brushes - The Complete Eye Set

Zoeva Brushes – The Complete Eye Set

Verdict: I just love these! This is definitely a purchase that I will recommend to anyone whose looking for a varied set of eye brushes. The quality, price, packaging and styles available are everything I would look for in eye brushes. All I wish is that Zoeva would offer brush guards for these sizes as they’re not easy to come by. I did eventually find on Ebay, however extra small does not seem to be a very popular size.

The ghd Gold Max Styler

Earlier this week, I wrote about how much I love the ghd Style Heat Protect Spray, so I thought, why not let you all know about how amazing the ghd Gold Max Styler is?!

As I said before, unfortunately I’m not blessed with poker straight hair, so I need a little bit of help to get me there! I’ve tried quite a few hair straighteners over the years, and nothing compares to this one. Others I’ve tried have been good, however not as much as these, and also caused more damage to my hair in the long run.

ghd Gold Max Styler

ghd Gold Max Styler

The ghd Gold Max Styler is a hair straightener I was drawn to due to its thick plates. I like these as I find it much easier and quicker to straighten my entire head of hair.

The ceramic heaters and contour plates heat up in just seconds and also turn off automatically (sleep mode) if mistakenly left on for over 30 minutes – a great safety feature.

They quickly straighten the hair with just 2-3 strokes when sectioned reasonably and are comfortable to hold for even for a lengthy styling session and when styling the hair at the back of your head.

Packaging: A sturdy box that comes in a pretty black and gold packaging. Inside it, the hair straighteners also come with a cover for the plates themselves as well as an instruction booklet.

Cost:  I got this a good 5 years ago directly from the ghd website for about €120. Well worth it considering it still works perfectly after all this time.

ghd Gold Max Styler

ghd Gold Max Styler

Verdict: I just love these and cannot not have them in my hair styling tools collection! Affordable for the amount of good use you get out of them, super fast at heating up, easy to use and style, easily straightens (or curls) without snagging and switches to sleep mode if left unattended. Sounds good if you ask me 🙂

Caution: As great as these are, obviously you must always be careful when dealing with heat styling tools. Always ensure a heat-protection product is used on the hair, whether wet or dry, and try not to over use these or leave on the hair too long as damage will be bound to occur.
